עֵזֶרEzer Ministries

About

Our name carries our calling.

In Scripture, עֵזֶרezer — means help, rescue, and shield: strength that shows up for those in need. Ezer Ministries exists to make that strength real in the life of the church.

He is our help and our shield.

Psalm 33:20

The word is used twenty-one times in the Hebrew Scriptures, and most of those describe God himself — the one who rescues people who cannot rescue themselves. It comes from a root meaning to surround and protect, and Scripture repeatedly pairs it with the word for a shield.

Mission

What we are for

Ezer Ministries equips faith communities to live out the biblical calling of ezer — help, rescue, and shield. We do this through two tracks held together as one work: teaching Scripture rooted in the historic Christian witness, and equipping churches with the training and resources to recognize and respond to domestic violence with safety, compassion, and truth.

Vision

The church as a place of refuge

We envision congregations so grounded in Scripture, and so prepared to act, that no one facing abuse is met with silence and everyone in need finds the help, rescue, and shield that God intends his people to be.

What guides us

Scripture as our foundation

We teach and act from the authority of God's Word and the pattern of the historic Christian faith.

The church as ezer

God calls his people to be help, rescue, and shield — present and ready when it is needed most.

Safety and compassion

We respond to those who are hurting with protection first, and with the care that reflects Christ.

Truth without compromise

We name harm honestly and refuse to trade a person's safety for a false peace.

Partnership across the church

We serve the whole breadth of the Christian witness, without adopting any single denominational tradition.

Who we are

Leadership

Ezer Ministries was founded by Joshua and Shauna Green and is governed by a volunteer board of directors. Shauna leads the domestic violence training track and brings professional experience in the field, including work with offenders. Josh serves as president and leads the biblical teaching track.

Directors serve without compensation. The ministry operates under bylaws that include a conflict of interest policy.
